Ladies’ Day Away

February 11, 2012, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Chase away winter’s chill with good fellowship, music, food (served by the men of Elgin), inspiration and humour. Please sign up in the foyer or phone 519-271-5407. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 during which the ladies will be serving muffins, dainties,coffee, etc. There is an icebreaker activity planned from 9 to 9:30 for those who are there. The program starts at 9:30.

Myrtle Mills is going to have our devotions in the morning - many of you know her from Christian Women's Club. She is a gem of a lady! Lindors from Festival Mall are doing a feature for us in which they will show us how to tie scarves attractively and also give us some tips on accessorizing. They want us to bring our own scarves so we can practise with them as they do the demonstration. Dee also offered to help ladies during the break right after the demo. They did a feature like this at an evening Christian Women's Club awhile ago and it was really enjoyed by the ladies.

We are having two humourous presentations since we all like to laugh and the Bible says a "merry heart does good like a medicine". You'll enjoy them. And you'll probably know the ladies doing them!! Betty Slothouber is singing and playing her guitar for us in the morning and afternoon and I know you will enjoy her gentle but powerful way of performing. The men are cooking up some lunch for us which will be served at lovely tables - can't wait to see that!

To finish it off in the afternoon, we are having one of the ladies from the evening Bible Study class share her life story. You will find it interesting and inspiring to hear how her faith has kept her going through all the hardships she endured in her lifetime. Living Waters Bookstore from Linwood will have a mini store set up for the day for your convenience. They have a lot of nice items - check them out on the web if you wish. (Google, Living Waters Bookstore in Linwood, Ont.) There's more, but hey, you need a few surprises!

There is no charge for the day, however we are suggesting that you bring an item for a mission project in Romania in which two of our ladies are involved. The list of things they need are on the church website or you can email me for them. Or they are accepting cash donations to World Partners to fund the project.

We'd love to have you join us - and bring along some friends. The more, the merrier! They will find the day refreshing and not at all intimidating.

Please let us know ASAP so the men can go grocery shopping!
