CONNECTING MINISTRIES - A Summary

Our ministries are carefully designed to provide meaningful fellowship, instruction and care for all age groups. Elgin is a place where we serve one another and help people become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. 

CHILDREN

Our Nursery takes care of children up to three years of age, during Sunday School and worship service, 9:15 - 11:45 a.m. Sunday School teaches children age 3 - grade 6 in 5 classes from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. Children’s Church, dismissed part way through the morning service, provides creative  programs for ages 3 - 6 on Sundays 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

Children from 4 years through Grade 5 enjoy Bible-based teaching, crafts and group activities in our Pioneer Clubs program on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

YOUTH

Our Youth Ministries are an excellent opportunity for young people to come together and study the Word of God. We also have lots of fun playing sports, and enjoying social activities.

Jr. Youth (Grades 6 - 8) meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Sr. Youth (Grades 9 - 12) meets on Thursdays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

ADULTS

Our adults meet each Sunday morning for Sunday School from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m., throughout the year, for thought provoking, interactive Bible study, to share and to be challenged in their walk with the Lord.

On Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m., at the church, adults meet for a time of Bible Study, sharing and corporate prayer. EMCWomen meet for social times with special emphasis on prayer and missions. Ladies Small Group Bible Study meets at the church on designated afternoons (1:30 - 3:00 p.m.) throughout the year.

SPORTS

We have year round sports programs in our large gymnasium, on our own 5 acre sports field adjacent to the church, and in a local arena.

Adult Volleyball, Mondays at 7:00 p.m.

Men’s Ice Hockey, Fridays from 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. in the new Rotary Recreation Centre.

Kids’ Soccer, our premier sports event, annually during June and July, involves around 300 participants ages 4 - 12 in three divisions: 4 - 5, 6 - 8 and 9 - 12. Children must be at least 4 years old, or  turn 4 during the program, to be eligible.

SENIORS, 55 years plus

A lively group of seniors (most of whom are 55 and older) meets for monthly luncheons to enjoy good fellowship, delicious food, joyful singing and a brief devotional time.

The group meets at the Queen’s Inn, on the fourth Wednesday of every month from September to May, at 11:15 a.m. See list of actual dates.
